PLN Indonesia Power Innovation Receives Asian Recognition at Power & Energy Awards 2026
South Tangerang, September 22, 2026 – PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) received an award at the Power & Energy Awards 2026, part of the Enlit Asia & Electricity Connect 2026 series of events, for its Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant – ROBOCOP innovation in the Digital, Data & Intelligence category.
The award recognizes PLN IP's innovation in using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to optimize the performance of geothermal power plants. The achievement highlights the contribution of PLN IP employees in developing digital solutions that deliver real improvements in power plant efficiency and operational performance.
The Power & Energy Awards 2026 was attended by Chairman of the Indonesian Electricity Society (MKI) Suroso Isnandar, Chairperson of the Electricity Connect 2026 Organizing Committee Arsyadany Ghana Akmalaputri, Assistant Deputy for Electricity and Geology Development at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Sunandar, National Energy Council (DEN) Member representing industry stakeholders Sripeni Inten Cahyani, award recipients, and other stakeholders from the energy and electricity sectors.
The Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant – ROBOCOP award was presented by Arsyadany Ghana Akmalaputri to representatives of PLN Indonesia Power.
ROBOCOP is an AI-based innovation developed by PLN Indonesia Power to optimize the performance of the condenser at Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant Unit 2.
The technology helps predict condenser operating conditions in real time, allowing the power plant to operate more efficiently and effectively.
The implementation of ROBOCOP successfully increased electricity production from 53.8 MW to 54.5 MW without increasing geothermal steam consumption.
The innovation also generated additional electricity, improved steam utilization efficiency, reduced emissions, and created positive impacts on electricity production costs by optimizing power plant performance.
President Director of PLN Indonesia Power, Bernadus Sudarmanta, said the award recognizes the hard work and innovation developed by PLN IP employees in addressing challenges in the electricity sector.
“This award recognizes the hard work and innovation of PLN Indonesia Power employees. For us, innovation is not simply about creating new technology, but about how that innovation can create added value, improve the reliability and efficiency of power plants, and respond to the evolving challenges of the energy sector,” said Bernadus.
“This recognition at the Asian level further motivates us to continue developing innovations that create real impacts for the company and the electricity system,” he added.
Through ROBOCOP, PLN IP continues to promote the use of AI and digital technology to optimize power generation assets.
The innovation is part of PLN IP's digital transformation efforts to improve work processes, increase the efficiency of resource utilization, and strengthen the reliability and sustainability of geothermal power plant operations.
The award at the Power & Energy Awards 2026 further demonstrates PLN IP's efforts to develop technology-based innovations in the power generation sector.
This recognition at the Asian level encourages PLN IP to continue creating innovations that deliver added value and real impacts on the company's performance and the electricity system.
