PLN Indonesia Power's Commitment to Realizing Gender Equality Through the Srikandi Character and Sustainable Policies

As a cornerstone of its corporate sustainability strategy, PLN Indonesia Power is advancing its commitment to gender equality, fully aligning with the principles of the 5th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 5) on women's empowerment. This commitment has been formalized through the Board of Directors' Decree Number 0509.K/DIR/2023, which established a dedicated Srikandi Task Force. According to the company's Director, these gender mainstreaming efforts are fundamental to creating an inclusive and non-discriminatory workplace, which is essential for good and sustainable governance.

PLN Indonesia Power has established the Srikandi character, which is based on three main pillars: Anggun, Cerdas, and Tangguh. This commitment is enshrined in the Board of Directors' Decree Number 0509.K/DIR/2023 concerning the Establishment of the Srikandi Task Force of PT PLN Indonesia Power. This Srikandi character is designed as an internal guide to empower female employees and to become a foundation of the company's culture. The meanings of Anggun-Cerdas-Tangguh are as follows:

  • Anggun (Graceful): To cultivate a culture of mutual respect through a positive mindset, professional conduct, and appropriate appearance.
  • Cerdas (Intelligent): To embody a well-rounded individual with intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence, adept at balancing professional and family responsibilities.
  • Tangguh (Resilient): To be a role model of persistence, reliability, and consistent high performance.

The implementation of this commitment is also strengthened through the "Respectful Workplace Policy" and a Gender Mainstreaming (PUG) strategy, which directly reflect the targets of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5. These frameworks, which apply to everyone from directors to third-party partners, enforce a zero-tolerance policy against gender-based discrimination and offer robust protection from all forms of violence and harassment. Strategically, the PUG initiative focuses on ensuring equitable opportunities for all genders in every role, including leadership; embedding gender-inclusive perspectives into the company's core electricity policies; and actively boosting female participation across both technical and non-technical fields.

Through these strategic actions, PLN Indonesia Power is proactively dismantling barriers and building an equitable framework for all its employees. The ultimate goal is to foster an inclusive, safe, and equal working environment, thereby contributing significantly to sustainable development on both a national and global scale.

In Commemoration of Kartini Day, Srikandi of PLN Indonesia Power UBP Grati Support the SELANTANG & SOTH Graduation in Ranuklindungan Village
In Commemoration of Kartini Day, Srikandi of PLN Indonesia Power UBP Grati Support the SELANTANG & SOTH Graduation in Ranuklindungan Village

To commemorate Kartini Day, the Srikandi of PLN Indonesia Power UBP Grati took part in the graduation ceremony of Sekolah Lansia Tangguh (SELANTANG) and Sekolah Orang Tua Hebat (SOTH) at the Ranuklindungan Village Hall, Grati, Pasuruan. This activity was the result of synergy between PLN Indonesia Power’s CSR program, the village government, and the community to improve the quality of life of the elderly and families with young children.

A total of 40 participants joined the graduation, consisting of 20 elderly participants from the SELANTANG program—which focuses on elderly health and independence—and 20 parents from the SOTH program, which aims to reduce stunting rates through nutrition and parenting education.

Local officials and PLN Indonesia Power UBP Grati’s management gave high appreciation, highlighting the achievement of Ranuklindungan Village as the pioneer of the first SELANTANG program in Pasuruan Regency, which also won first place.

The active involvement of the Srikandi of PLN Indonesia Power UBP Grati in this event is closely tied to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Their participation was not merely ceremonial, but rather a representation of women’s active role in decision-making and the implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. This aligns with SDG 5’s target to ensure women’s full participation and opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in public and economic life.

These Srikandi are not merely the beneficiaries of empowerment programs; they are the agents of change. They contribute directly to broader social issues—such as senior health and stunting prevention—that impact the entire community, not just women-centric concerns.

By taking a leading role in this Kartini Day commemoration, the women of PLN Indonesia Power symbolically carry forward the legacy of emancipation. Their actions are an inspiration, demonstrating that women have a crucial and equal role in driving the nation's development—echoing the enduring spirit of R.A. Kartini.

PLN Indonesia Power UBP Priok Commemorates National Education Day with Inclusive Early Childhood Education

Jakarta, May 16, 2025 – In commemoration of the 2025 National Education Day (Hardiknas), PLN Indonesia Power Priok Generation Business Unit (UBP) held an educational event involving all students from its fostered Inclusive Early Childhood Education (PAUD) program. The event, filled with joy and enthusiasm, took place at the PLN IP UBP Priok power generation unit, with active support from the UBP Priok women's community, known as Srikandi UBP Priok.

Under the theme "Moving Education, Illuminating Indonesia," the activity aimed to introduce young children, including those with special needs, to the world of electricity and the importance of safety and environmental conservation through a fun and interactive approach.

PLN IP UBP Priok employees actively engaged in educating the students by presenting a simple introduction to electricity through picture stories and visual games. The children were also taught to plant seedlings as part of an environmental care education session. Following this, they watched an age-appropriate safety education video before participating in a site visit to the power generation unit, guided by PLN IP UBP Priok employees.

The involvement of Srikandi UBP Priok added a special touch to the event. Srikandi members actively accompanied the children throughout the activities, guiding them in each session and facilitating learning materials with a compassionate and inclusive approach.

The General Manager of PLN IP UBP Priok, Buyung Arianto, stated that this event is a manifestation of the company's commitment to inclusive education and character building from an early age. “This year's National Education Day commemoration is a moment for us at PLN Indonesia Power UBP Priok to make a tangible contribution to the world of education, especially inclusive education. Through this activity, we want to create a joyful learning experience for the children of our fostered inclusive PAUD. We believe that collaboration and an inclusive approach are key to shaping a generation that is intelligent, caring, and has strong character,” said Buyung.

He further added that this moment will become a lasting memory for the children, particularly those aged five and above. The positive experiences they had today will be stored in their subconscious, forming a deep impression of the environment and the professions they encountered. It is hoped that one day, aspirations will grow within them to work in a place they remember so fondly.

"In closing, we believe that these children are the nation's future successors. Our hope is that they will one day contribute to the electricity sector and be part of a positive change for Indonesia," he concluded.
