PLN Indonesia Power UBP Kamojang Darajat Geothermal Unit Strengthens Water Source Conservation Through Tree Planting in Pasirwangi
Garut, September 22, 2026 – PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Kamojang, through the Darajat Geothermal Power Plant Unit, carried out a tree planting activity as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in Karyamekar Village and Padaawas Village, Pasirwangi District, Garut Regency, on Tuesday, September 22.
The activity is part of the company's efforts to support environmental conservation, particularly the sustainability of water sources in areas surrounding the community.
The tree planting activity was part of a series of CSR programs carried out by PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Kamojang Darajat Geothermal Unit in collaboration with village governments, community groups, and residents around the Darajat Geothermal Power Plant.
A total of 850 tree seedlings were planted around clean water facilities to help improve water absorption and protect water sources.
The seedlings included 50 productive trees, consisting of orange, avocado, and jackfruit; 100 native tree species, including kibeureum, tebe, mangkid, and ki sireum; as well as 700 coffee seedlings prepared to support reforestation and environmental conservation around the water source.
The activity was expected to be more than just a ceremonial event. It was also intended to encourage community awareness and participation in protecting and maintaining the environment in a sustainable way.
Head of Karyamekar Village, Yadi Setiadi, expressed his appreciation for the support from PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Kamojang and emphasized the importance of ensuring that the benefits of the program continue in the long term.
In his remarks, Yadi hoped that the community groups established through the program could become examples of independent program management so that the benefits could continue to be enjoyed by the community.
“We hope that the groups that have been established can become examples for others. We should not depend only on assistance from companies. Hopefully, what has been provided can create long-term benefits,” said Yadi Setiadi.
Head of Padaawas Village, Cucu Suryana, also expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and support provided by PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Kamojang to the people of Padaawas Village.
He emphasized the importance of managing the program effectively and efficiently, as well as maintaining the role of community groups in ensuring the long-term benefits of the program.
“We hope this program can continue. Hopefully, the groups that have been established can use the available water effectively and efficiently,” said Cucu Suryana.
A representative from Pasirwangi District emphasized that tree planting is closely connected to the sustainability of water sources.
According to the representative, trees play an important role in helping water absorption. Therefore, tree planting activities must be followed by a strong commitment from the community to protect and maintain the trees that have been planted.
The community was also reminded not to remove or cut down the newly planted trees so they can grow and provide long-term benefits for the environment.
Senior Manager of PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Kamojang, Dony Rafika, said that tree planting is part of the company's commitment to providing real benefits to the community while protecting the environment around its operational area.
The trees were planted around the water source as an effort to protect the sustainability of water resources that are shared and used by the community.
“On this occasion, we are also planting trees around the water source as an effort to protect and maintain the sustainability of water resources that will be used by the community. We hope this small step can become part of a larger effort to protect water resources for future generations,” said Dony Rafika.
Dony also added that the success of the program would not only depend on completing the tree planting activity, but also on continued maintenance and community participation after the activity.
The trees that have been planted are expected to be cared for together so they can grow and provide benefits for the environment and the sustainability of local water sources.
The tree planting activity is part of PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Kamojang Darajat Geothermal Unit's commitment to implementing CSR programs that provide social benefits while supporting environmental sustainability.
Through collaboration between the company, village governments, community groups, and local residents, the activity is expected to strengthen awareness of the importance of protecting water sources and encourage collective efforts to maintain the environment in a sustainable manner.
