Ensuring Electricity Reliability for RAFI 2026 Standby Period, Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Visits Saguling Hydropower Plant
West Bandung, March 16, 2026 – PLN Indonesia Power Generation Business Unit (UBP) Saguling welcomed a working visit from the Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Yuliot Tanjung, to ensure the readiness of electricity supply ahead of the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (RAFI) 2026 period. The visit took place at the Saguling Hydropower Plant (PLTA Saguling), one of the strategic power plants within the West Java electricity system.
During the visit, the Vice Minister was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of ESDM, including Special Staff to the Minister, Expert Staff, Secretariat, Committee members, as well as representatives from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Migas) and the Directorate General of Electricity (Gatrik). Also present were representatives from PT PLN (Persero) Head Office, PLN West Java Distribution Main Unit, and the management of PLN Indonesia Power as the plant operator. The delegation was welcomed by the Director of Coal-Fired Power Generation Operations of PLN Indonesia Power, Mr. M. Hanafi Nur Rifai, along with the Senior Manager of UBP Saguling, Mr. Doni Bakar.
The visit commenced at the Power House yard of PLTA Saguling. On this occasion, PLN Indonesia Power delivered an overview through a Walking Gallery session, highlighting the electricity system and the strategic role of the Saguling Hydropower Plant in supporting power supply reliability in West Java.
The agenda continued with a discussion session at the Meeting Room on the second floor of the Power House. During the discussion, PLN presented its operational readiness for the RAFI 2026 standby period, including strategies to secure generation systems, personnel preparedness, and mitigation measures for potential geological hazards that may affect plant operations.
In his remarks, the Vice Minister of ESDM emphasized the importance of maintaining electricity system reliability, particularly during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, when public activity and mobility significantly increase.
“As an energy provider serving the community, the electricity system must be maintained at the highest level. Reliable electricity supply is essential to support public activities during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, including for travelers, so they can carry out their worship and activities comfortably,” said Mr. Yuliot Tanjung.
Following the discussion, the delegation visited the main Control Room of PLTA Saguling to directly observe plant operations. During the visit, the Vice Minister reviewed the operational control processes that play a critical role in maintaining system stability.
As a gesture of appreciation for personnel maintaining 24-hour electricity reliability, the Vice Minister symbolically presented tokens of appreciation to on-duty operators. This gesture recognized the dedication of electricity personnel who continuously work to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the community.
Through this visit, PLN Indonesia Power reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the reliability of national power generation. Supported by optimal operational readiness and well-prepared personnel, PLN Indonesia Power stands ready to ensure reliable electricity supply throughout the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 standby period, enabling the public to carry out activities and worship safely and comfortably.
