PLN Indonesia Power Fully Prepared to Maintain Electricity Reliability for Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day
Jakarta, August 15, 2026 – PT PLN (Persero) has ensured that Indonesia’s national electricity system is fully prepared to support the 81st Independence Day celebrations. PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that all PLN Group employees are ready to maintain reliable electricity across Indonesia. PLN has prepared several strategic measures, including limiting work that could potentially cause disruptions and carrying out preventive maintenance on power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo emphasized that PLN has made comprehensive preparations to ensure a reliable electricity supply throughout the 81st Independence Day celebrations. Preparations cover power generation, transmission, and distribution, supported by personnel and various equipment to ensure that all Independence Day activities can take place safely, smoothly, and peacefully.
“PLN is giving its full effort to maintain reliable electricity during this historic moment. We are ready to provide the best electricity service to support the 81st Independence Day celebrations, so that all Indonesians can celebrate Independence with pride and respect,” said Darmawan.
As PLN’s power generation subholding, PLN Indonesia Power has also strengthened its readiness by monitoring the electricity system in real time through the Reliability Efficiency Optimization Center (REOC).
Director of Coal-Fired Power Generation Operations at PLN Indonesia Power, Moch. Padang Dirgantara, said that all PLN Indonesia Power employees are ready to maintain reliable PLN performance during this historic moment.
“We are ready to support the 2026 81st Independence Day Electricity Readiness Program as part of our commitment to maintaining the performance of PLN Indonesia Power as a world-class company,” said Padang.
PLN Indonesia Power has prepared sufficient power capacity, with 17.79 GW of Net Available Capacity and 16.03 GW of Available Supply Capacity, with an average availability factor (AF) of 84.64%. A total of 537 power generation units across 43 locations have been prepared to support electricity reliability during the Independence Day celebrations.
In terms of personnel, PLN Indonesia Power has deployed 2,193 personnel, supported by 2,548 corporate security personnel. Supporting equipment has also been prepared, including 11,959 fire extinguishers, 33 fire trucks, and 25 ambulances, along with sufficient spare materials to handle potential disruptions. As part of its field readiness, PLN Indonesia Power has also established Power Plant Readiness Posts at 114 locations.
This readiness reflects PLN Indonesia Power’s commitment to maintaining PLN’s performance and supporting the reliability of Indonesia’s national electricity system during the 81st Independence Day celebrations in 2026.
