PLN Indonesia Power Supports the Acceleration of Solar Energy through the 100 GWp Solar Power Program
Bali, August 25, 2026 – PLN Indonesia Power continues to strengthen its contribution to the development of solar energy in Indonesia through the 100 GWp Solar Power Program. This commitment is shown through the development of several solar power projects as part of PLN Indonesia Power’s renewable energy portfolio. These projects also support Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen energy security and independence.
The commitment was highlighted during the Launching & Groundbreaking of the 100 GWp Solar Power Program, attended by President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, along with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia and other officials. The program is a strategic step to expand the use of solar energy and accelerate Indonesia’s transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy system.
PLN Indonesia Power has developed several solar power projects together with strategic partners. Its portfolio includes the 134.2 MWp Gajah Mungkur Floating Solar Power Plant, the 92 MWp Saguling Floating Solar Power Plant, the 132 MWp Pasuruan Solar Power Plant, and the 132 MWp Banyuwangi Solar Power Plant. These projects strengthen PLN Indonesia Power’s role in developing solar-based power plants in various parts of Indonesia.
The development of these projects is part of PLN Indonesia Power’s efforts to expand the use of renewable energy and provide energy solutions that support the needs of the electricity system. Through collaboration with strategic partners, the company continues to develop Indonesia’s solar energy potential while considering system needs and the characteristics of each region.
President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto said that the development of 100 GWp of solar power within three years is a strategic step to strengthen Indonesia’s energy independence and security, while reducing dependence on imported energy.
“The 100 GWp Solar Power Program is a major step toward strengthening Indonesia’s energy independence and security. We will build this capacity within around three years by using our domestic renewable energy potential, including solar and geothermal energy. We want to prove that Indonesia can meet its own energy needs, reduce dependence on energy imports, and manage our energy resources effectively for the benefit of the people,” said Prabowo.
Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized that accelerating the 100 GW solar power program within three years is an important step to strengthen national energy security and reduce dependence on imported energy.
“Today, we are accelerating the implementation of the 100 GW Solar Power Program. The total investment is estimated at around US$73 billion or Rp1,120 trillion. The program has the potential to create around 5.52 million jobs and reduce emissions by up to 120 million tons of CO₂ per year. We will implement this program on a large scale over the next three years, while also increasing the use of domestic energy and reducing our dependence on fuel imports,” said Bahlil.
