PLN Indonesia Power Strengthens Its Sustainability Commitment Through INVIROTECH 2026
Jakarta, June 11, 2026 – PLN Indonesia Power reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection by participating in the Indonesia International Environment Technology and Innovation Expo & Conference (INVIROTECH) 2026, held under the theme "Green Solution Technology for Climate Action." The event, taking place from June 11–13, 2026, serves as an important platform for PLN Indonesia Power to strengthen the role of the energy sector in delivering green solutions, technological innovation, and concrete actions to address climate change.
Held at the Jakarta International Convention Center, the event was attended by the Minister of Environment and Head of the Environmental Control Agency (BPLH), Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat, along with representatives from government institutions, businesses, academia, environmental communities, and technology innovators. Their participation highlights that achieving sustainability requires strong collaboration—not only through policies but also through real actions that benefit both people and the environment.
In his opening remarks, Minister Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat emphasized that green technology must become a key part of the collective effort to address climate change. He stated that economic growth and development should always be balanced with environmental responsibility.
"The theme Green Solution Technology for Climate Action reminds us that technology must support the future of our planet and society. Climate action cannot stop at discussions—it must be reflected through real actions, collaboration, and innovations with measurable impacts. Governments, businesses, communities, and the public must work together to ensure that the green transition truly benefits both the environment and people's well-being," said Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat.
He also highlighted the importance of carbon offsetting as part of climate action. As a concrete step, 265 tons of CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e) were offset through the purchase of Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Certificates (SPE-GRK) traded on the Indonesia Carbon Exchange.
"Every emission should be viewed as our shared responsibility. Offsetting 265 tons of CO₂e through SPE-GRK certificates traded on the Indonesia Carbon Exchange is an important step. This is not only about carbon certificates but also about recognizing that development, industry, and technology must go hand in hand with protecting our planet," he added.
According to the Minister, these carbon credits are especially meaningful because they come from measurable national emission reduction projects. These include the 2.4 MW Sukadamai Biogas Power Plant (PLTBg), the conversion of the Muara Tawar Block 2 power plant from a single-cycle to a combined-cycle system by PLN Nusantara Power, and the development of the Muara Karang Block 3 Combined Cycle Gas and Steam Power Plant (PLTGU).
PLN Indonesia Power's commitment to sustainability has also resulted in another significant achievement. Through its partnership and support, the Bening Saguling Foundation received the 2026 Kalpataru Lestari Award from the Minister of Environment and Head of the Environmental Control Agency.
The award reflects the positive impact that can be achieved when companies and local communities work together. The Bening Saguling Foundation has consistently protected the Citarum River, particularly the Saguling area, through community-based environmental conservation and empowerment programs.
PLN Indonesia Power's support for the foundation demonstrates the company's commitment to creating long-term environmental and social value. Beyond environmental conservation, the collaboration also promotes community awareness, self-reliance, and new economic opportunities for people living around the Citarum River.
President Director of PLN Indonesia Power, Bernadus Sudarmanta, said that the foundation's achievement is a shared success and proof that sustainability programs can create meaningful impacts when they are implemented consistently and closely aligned with community needs.
"The Bening Saguling Foundation's achievement in receiving the 2026 Kalpataru Lestari Award is a source of pride for PLN Indonesia Power. It shows that environmental protection is not only about programs but also about building a shared movement based on care, consistency, and strong engagement with local communities. We believe that meaningful change begins with small but continuous actions," said Bernadus.
For PLN Indonesia Power, this achievement reflects the company's commitment to implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. The company continues to ensure that its power generation facilities not only support Indonesia's energy reliability but also create positive environmental and social impacts in the surrounding communities.
Through the spirit of "Green Solution Technology for Climate Action," PLN Indonesia Power remains committed to providing reliable, innovative, and responsible energy—powering the nation while protecting the planet for today's and future generations.
