PLN Indonesia Power Stands at the Frontline: Aid Flows to West Sumatra
West Sumatra, December 4, 2025 — As a form of concern and swift response to the flood disaster that struck several regions in West Sumatra, PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) distributed humanitarian assistance to affected communities at two main points: the Singkarak Hydropower Plant in Asam Pulau Village, 2X11 Kayutanam District, and the Disaster Relief Post in Kapalo Koto Village, Pauh District, Padang.
The distribution of aid was directly led by Purnomo, Director of Gas Power Plant Operations at PLN IP, who went to the field to ensure that residents’ needs were met while also providing encouragement to the victims.
Through collaboration with LAZ An Nur and the Employee Association, PLN IP delivered assistance to 600 households to address the urgent needs of affected communities. The aid included various basic necessities such as food packages, sanitation supplies, medicines, and other supporting equipment to help the recovery process of the people of West Sumatra.
In addition to distributing aid, Purnomo also inspected several flood-affected areas, including the route to the Singkarak Hydropower Plant which was cut off due to heavy flooding. On this occasion, he also greeted and encouraged the Singkarak Hydropower Plant personnel who had been on standby from the beginning to maintain the reliability of electricity supply for the community.
Purnomo stated that the presence of PLN IP was a manifestation of social responsibility as well as a commitment to accompany the community through the recovery period.
"Our presence here is a manifestation of social responsibility as well as PLN Indonesia Power’s commitment to accompany the community through the recovery period. May we all be granted resilience during this time of restoration. On behalf of PLN Indonesia Power, we extend our condolences. May God Almighty grant health and strength to us all," said Purnomo.
A beneficiary, Betriwati, also expressed gratitude for the assistance from PLN Indonesia Power, which she considered very helpful in the recovery process in her village.
"Thank you to PLN Indonesia Power for helping our village. This assistance means a lot to us as we strive to rise after the disaster. May what has been contributed be useful to accelerate recovery and meet the needs of residents here," she said.
In addition to providing logistical support to affected communities, PLN IP through the 175 MW Singkarak Hydropower Plant remains committed to operating at full capacity to maintain reliable electricity supply in West Sumatra.
At the same time, the Director of Gas Power Plant Operations of PLN IP also inspected the 224 MW Teluk Sirih Power Plant to ensure the readiness of the plant in maintaining the reliability of the electricity system in Sumatra.
Through this action, PLN Indonesia Power once again reaffirmed its role as an energy company that not only ensures the reliability of electricity supply but also demonstrates strong social responsibility toward communities around its operational areas.
