Amid Natural Disaster, PLN Indonesia Power Ensures Reliability of Electricity Supply in North Sumatra and Provides Assistance to Affected Communities

Central Tapanuli, December 4, 2025 – The flood disaster that struck North Sumatra has not diminished the commitment of PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) to maintain electricity services for the community. Directly on site, PLN IP President Director Bernadus Sudarmanta ensured that the Labuhan Angin Power Plant and the Pangkalan Susu Power Plant remained safe, while also extending support to affected residents and employees.

Flooding in North Sumatra impacted residential areas and the environment surrounding power plants, requiring swift action to safeguard the reliability of electricity supply in the region. In response to this situation, PLN Indonesia Power acted promptly to stabilize the power system while simultaneously distributing humanitarian aid to communities affected by the disaster.

As part of the field inspection, PLN IP President Director Bernadus Sudarmanta visited the Labuhan Angin Generation Business Unit (UBP), one of the strategic plants affected by flooding. Bernadus greeted and encouraged PLN IP personnel and directly inspected the facilities, ensuring that all equipment remained functional and operations continued safely to maintain electricity supply for the public.

In addition to Labuhan Angin, the President Director also continued his inspection at the Pangkalan Susu Generation Business Unit in Langkat Regency to ensure that all generation assets in northern Sumatra were in safe condition and ready to support electricity supply reliability. This visit reaffirmed PLN Indonesia Power’s readiness to maintain system reliability at these two strategic points.

During his inspection, Bernadus expressed appreciation for the resilience of employees who continued to serve in the field despite challenging circumstances.

"At a time when the community needs light, our colleagues here choose to remain at the frontline. Even in flood conditions, they ensure that electricity does not go out. This is not just duty—it is courage and sincerity in service," said Bernadus.

On this occasion, PLN IP distributed more than 1,000 humanitarian aid packages to communities affected by flooding in North Sumatra. The aid, consisting of food packages, essential supplies, and medicines, was delivered in coordination with local authorities to ensure accuracy and relevance to community needs. Distribution was carried out in collaboration with Laz An Nur, the PLN IP Employee Association (PP), and Srikandi PLN IP, enabling the support to reach more affected residents and employees.

Through this swift action, PLN Indonesia Power emphasized that ensuring electricity supply reliability in North Sumatra and supporting communities are two commitments that go hand in hand. Amid disaster, power plants remain operational, aid reaches those in need, and PLN Indonesia Power stands with residents to recover together.
