PLN Indonesia Power UBP Grati Ignites Youth Pledge Spirit: Turning Waste into Blessings with Ranuklindungan Community
In celebration of Youth Pledge Day, PLN Indonesia Power UBP Grati reaffirmed its commitment to fostering community independence and environmental awareness through the Power Green Waste Bank and Compost House program. This initiative reflects a tangible synergy between youth spirit, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability in Ranuklindungan Village, Pasuruan.
Through this program, PLN Indonesia Power UBP Grati aims to reduce household waste that was previously discarded into Lake Ranu. Today, unmanaged domestic waste is being transformed into compost and economically valuable products.
“We used to throw away organic waste without a second thought. Now, that waste has become a source of extra income. The sales help support our families,” said Faudjan, a member of the Power Green Compost House.
Beyond economic benefits, the program has also led to a significant shift in community behavior. Residents are now more conscious of environmental cleanliness and understand that proper waste management brings both social and economic value.
“People are now more aware of keeping the environment clean. We’ve learned that a clean environment can generate income. Waste is no longer a burden—it’s a source of livelihood,” said Aisyah, Chairperson of the Teratai Putih Waste Bank.
Erwin Andy Herlambang, Senior Manager of PLN Indonesia Power UBP Grati, stated that the spirit of collaboration and innovation shown by the Ranuklindungan community aligns with the values of the Youth Pledge—unity, empowerment, and contribution to a cleaner and more sustainable Indonesia.
“We believe that the spirit of change doesn’t belong only to the youth of the past, but also to today’s youth and communities who care about the environment,” he said.
The Power Green Waste Bank and Compost House program stands as a clear example of how collaboration between companies and communities can deliver sustainable environmental solutions. Through small, collective steps, PLN Indonesia Power UBP Grati invites all elements of the nation to keep the spirit of change alive—from waste to blessings, from awareness to strength.
